Mt Carmel Place - a social outreach

The community of Our Lady of Mt Carmel is aware that there are men and women in our parish who experience social isolation, anxiety and loneliness. As a welcoming and inclusive community our parish has taken steps to offer people a friendly face, companionship, a tea/coffee and something to eat in a place which is safe and welcoming.

The St Vincent de Paul Society and Carmel Care, have collaboratively established Mt Carmel Place in the courtyard space outside the Carmel Community Room on the church grounds.  Since October 2020, on the first and third Tuesday of each month we have been welcoming people to Mt Carmel Place to find:

• a warm welcome, peace and friendship;
• a listening ear, respect and understanding;
• a restful space in a safe environment; and
• a feeling of belonging.

Mt Carmel Place is open from 9.30am to 11.00am on the first and third Tuesday of each month. Our final gathering for this year will be on Tuesday 15 December where we will share some Christmas spirit.

So please come along to Mt Carmel Place if you would like to enjoy a chat, friendship, a cuppa and a snack in a safe and friendly place. Feel welcome to bring along someone you think might enjoy the company.
